Wilton Mason Ward was born to Elmer and Pearl Mason Ward on Sept. 20, 1920. Wilton grew up in Green Valley where he spent much of his youth living and working on his uncle's (Mason) ranches. Wilton graduated from Armijo High School in Fairfield and went on to attend Sacramento State College. During WWII Wilton joined the U.S. Army Air Corp (USAF) where he served as a pilot patrolling the Eastern U.S. coast for German submarines. After his military service, he returned to the Fairfield area where he opened Fairfield Glass, which he owned and operated for over 35 years with his partner, Robert Dittmer.
