FAIRFIELD — People who live in and around Fairfield can expect relief – of sorts – as the projected high Friday drops below 100 for the first time in a week. It's the beginning of the end of a blistering heatwave that's gripped much of Solano County – and the state – that saw local temperatures in Solano County rise above 115 degrees. Those who live in and around Benicia and Vallejo have been spared the worst of the oppressive heat. The high at the Nut Tree Airport is projected to top out at 105 Friday, the National Weather Service reports.
